I mentioned just the other week my excitement about the release of the 2015 Brisbane Writers Festival Program. After booking my tickets it was time to organise my pre-festival reading.
I’m looking forward to hearing many authors speak. I’ve already read the books of some, such as Graeme Simsion and Patrick Holland, but several I haven’t. However, I needed to be realistic about how many of their titles I would have time to read before the event, so purchased just two new titles for my reading stack.
is a title I’ve had on my wishlist for some time. I enjoy the offbeat and quirky, and recommendations from A S Byatt and Bjork include the descriptor ‘lyrical’.
was a May 2015 release that caught my eye. Written by an industry insider, this novel is described as ‘a hilarious and touching love letter to the people who write, sell – and, above all, read – the books that shape our lives’.
