Last week the Crime Writers Association announced the titles short-listed for the CWA Goldsboro Gold Dagger Award 2013.
Belinda Bauer for Rubbernecker (Bantam/Transworld)
Lauren Beukes for The Shining Girls (HarperCollins)
Mick Herron for Dead Lions (Soho Crime)
Becky Masterman for Rage Against the Dying (Orion)
Congratulations to all the authors but I am especially pleased to see Mick Herron making the list with Dead Lions, a novel I had the pleasure of reviewing earlier this year. It’s a wonderful mix of thriller, satire and spoof. Hopefully its short-listing will bring it the commercial success it deserves.
While I have not read the other short-listed titles, I do have The Shining Girls on my wishlist, and hope to find the time to read it before the winner of the Gold Dagger is announced on 24 October.
Who do you think will win?
Long-listed titles that didn’t make the cut this time round were:
Sam Hawken for Tequila Sunset (Serpent’s Tail)
Sara Paretsky for Breakdown (Hodder & Stoughton)
Michael Robotham for Say You’re Sorry (Sphere)
Don Winslow for The Kings of Cool (Heinemann)
