Books that caught my attention this week – June 2012 Edition 2

I come across so many wonderful books in my online travels – far too many to ever read them all.  So I have decided to share the titles I add each week to my unrealistically ambitious wishlist.

If you share literary tastes similar to mine, the books that caught my attention this week might interest you too.

Beautiful Ruins by Jess Walter

“A brilliant, madcap meditation on fate. . . . Walter’s prose is a joy-funny, brash, witty and rich with ironic twists. He’s taken all of the tricks of the postmodern novel and scoured out the cynicism, making for a novel that’s life-affirming but never saccharine.” – Kirkus Reviews

I really enjoyed the humour and inventiveness in Jess Walter’s last novel, The Financial Lives of the Poets, so have been looking forward to more from this talented author.

Bad Karma by David Safier

BAD KARMA by David Safier

Translated from the German by John Brownjohn

I came across this title on Jackie’s Farmlane Book Blog – check out her review – sounds hilarious, and how can you go past that cover!

You have far more restraint than I do! Good luck in getting through the hardbacks :-)

I’m so pleased that Bad Karma caught your attention! I think it is an amazing book, but I’ve so far failed to persuade anyone else to read it. I hope you decide to give it a try.
