This week Jennifer has asked us to talk about the book we are currently reading:
I have just finished listening to The Return by Victoria Hislop. It is a beautiful enveloping tale of the Spanish Civil War. Although books often move me, they rarely move me to tears, but this one had that affect on me – which isn’t great when you are driving a vehicle while listening!
As I participate in the blog hop this week I’ll be adding links to blogs I’ve hopped by on which I’ve found some book reviews that particularly caught my attention:
Shan from ‘Curled Up With a Good Book and a Cup of Tea’ has written a great review of The Point of Rescue by Sophie Hannah. I have not read anything by Sophie Hannah, but based on Shan’s review, it sounds like I should.
Found a new blog on the hop today, Ellie at Musings of a Bookshop Girl, and she really does work in a secondhand bookshop – lucky thing. Quite a few books caught my eye while browsing her blog but Brooklyn by Colm Toibin probably most of all. It reminds me a little of one of the story lines that featured in a book I’ve just finished reading and absolutely loved, Let The Great World Spin by Colum McCann.
Another new blog to me this week is What Red Read – love the name! In her review of the book I Was Told There’d Be Cake by Sloane Crosley, her mention of why she felt she had to hold back her laughter while reading on the train brought a smile to my face.
Thanks so much for hopping by my blog!
PS: If you have time on Sunday 25th July why not drop by and join in some Indian trivia when I host the Virtual Blog Tour of Cheryl Snell’s recently released novel Shiva’s Arms. The winner of my international giveaway of a copy of Shiva’s Arms will also be announced on the day – don’t miss out on entering!
